Fossil is well-known for designing, manufacturing, and distributing high-quality, fashionable watches all over the world.
However, through licencing agreements, Fossil is not only an American fashion designer but also a manufacturer for various watch brands.
You may be unaware that the Fossil Group, Inc has a portfolio of brands that includes Fossil, BMW, Relic, Michele Watch, Misfit, Skagen Denmark, WSI, and Zodiac Watches.
Fossil also produces licenced accessories for Adidas, Armani Exchange, Burberry, Chaps, Diesel, DKNY, Emporio Armani, Karl Lagerfeld, Kate Spade New York, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Puma, and Tory Burch, among others.
The company’s list of brands is growing as it has acquired some independent watch brands such as Danish watch brand Skagen and Swiss brand Zodiac.
The majority of the brand’s watches are powered by Japanese quartz movements.
However, the brand has recently expanded into the Swiss-made watch market, introducing Fossil Swiss – a line of Fossil watches with quartz and mechanical movements produced by its subsidiaries in Switzerland’s Canton Ticino.
The addition of Emporio Armani and Tory Burch to its sub-brands strengthens its position in the Swiss market.
Furthermore, the brand designs, manufactures, and distributes other products such as accessories, leathers, and jewellery. However, the profits are still incomparable to those from watches.
A frequently asked question about Fossil is whether it is a luxury watch brand. The answer is no, Fossil is not a luxury watch brand, but rather a style brand, which means that the company focuses more on the design, is cheaper (price-wise), but still manages to make decent watches.
There is no one-size-fits-all definition of a luxury watch, according to the definition of “Luxury watch brands.” They are simply well-crafted watches with the following features:
- Highest Quality
- Come at a high price.
- Movement That Is Outstanding And Recognized
- Great Value Retention
Reputation of Fossil Watches
Looking at Fossil’s portfolio will give you a good idea of its reputation. They are fashion watches, known for their design and good value for the price.
They should not, however, be compared to high-end watches. If your expectations are reasonable and you compare them to other brands in the same price range, they have a good build quality.
They typically use low-cost Chinese quartz movements, but this is true of most fashion watch brands, such as MVMT and Guess.
Regardless, Fossil stands out due to its contemporary styles and trends, as well as its top designers. Burberry, Emporio Armani, Michael Kors, DKNY, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and Karl Lagerfeld are among the brands represented in the Fossil Group portfolio.
Many serious watch enthusiasts dismiss Fossil watches in favour of a similarly priced Citizen, Seiko, or Timex due to the watchmaking history that those brands and t have. Others argue that if you’re looking for fashion, a brand like Swatch has made very trendy watches over the years, with the added benefit of being Swiss-made.
Construction that is dependable
Many customers attest to the longevity of their Fossil watch. The watches are covered by a two-year warranty.
Fossil has designed and manufactured watches with dependable craftsmanship and impeccable quality for more than two decades in the watchmaking industry.
The majority of Fossil watches are made of stainless steel, which is both strong and simple to repair. Unlike other materials, it is easy to buff away scratches.
There are also classic genuine leather watches and silicone.
Trends and Styles of Today
Fossil watches are also popular on the outside. While maintaining its quality, the brand takes a modern and fresh approach to watchmaking.
It also has a wide variety of collections from which to choose. Fossil has a model for everyone, from modern to classic, sporty to sophisticated.
If you prefer quartz or Swiss timepieces, Fossil has some options for you.
Since Fossil partners with well-known fashion brands, it should not be a surprise that some biggest names in fashion and design have also lent their skills in designing Fossil watches.
Frank Gehry, a legendary architect who collaborated on a Fossil watch, is one of them. While it is no longer manufactured, you can occasionally find one on eBay.
Philippe Starck is another name that has been mentioned previously. A world-renowned designer who debuted a line of watches with his distinct style.
Warranty on Fossil Watches
The brand warrants all Fossil watches for two years from the date of purchase. It covers both material and manufacturing flaws.
The stated warranty only covers the watch movement, hands, and dial. If the watch proves to be defective in material or workmanship under normal use, these components will be repaired as needed, or the watch will be replaced free of charge.
It does not, however, cover any defect in the materials and workmanship of the battery, crystal, case, strap, or bracelet.
The warranty is also null and void if the watch has been damaged as a result of an accident, negligence, unauthorised service, or other factors other than defects in material or workmanship.
If the watch needs to be replaced, Fossil cannot guarantee that you will get the same model. If your model is not available, you will be given a watch of comparable value or style.
Furthermore, the replacement watch warranty expires two years after you receive your replacement watch.
